Red cards

Jo mentioned the subtle red flags.  I'm going to start with a story involving a massive red flag.  A red flag that was so big, we had to create a new category called "red cards."

On this particular occasion, the date started really well.  We had fantastic conversation over good dinner.  Most of the night was spent laughing.  Without warning, the conversation became personal.  My date told me about his real estate investments.  He bought a house in grad school, and then realized he couldn't afford it so his parents helped him make the payments.  After a few years, he sold it, only to put the money into a beach house.  Quickly, he couldn't make the payments again.  So his parents helped him... again.  Then he decided to stop making payments.  Yes, he even told me the impact on his credit score.  The only thing that made it worse was that he didn't care.

Anyway, red card was given and he was immediately removed from the game!  Bankruptcy is NOT an appropriate first date topic!
